Pharmacies retain signatures from members to demonstrate that the member received the services provided by the pharmacies. This process varies between pharmacies. As a result of a Prudent Rx audit, it was recommended that this process be standardized. The following methods are recognized by HMSA as proof of delivery of pharmacy benefit services:
- Hard-copy signature log
- Electronic system that captures a signature imprint
- Electronic system that is limited to recording electronic dispensing transactions
