Medication Assisted Treatment of Substance Use Disorders

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.

MAT is a benefit for HMSA QUEST Integration Plan members and HMSA also provides various health coordination and support services in conjunction with MAT to ensure effective treatment of substance use disorders and sustain recovery. HMSA QUEST Integration Plan members have access to safe and effective Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in accordance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance.
