HMSA promotes Jennifer Diesman and Janna Nakagawa

The Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) today announced that Jennifer Diesman was promoted to vice president of Government Relations, and Janna L.S. Nakagawa was promoted to vice president of Human Resources.

Diesman is responsible for the health plan’s federal public policy efforts, including health care legislation. She acts as a liaison at the State Capitol and regulatory agencies, works with industry groups, and supports HMSA’s community relations efforts. Prior to this, she was assistant vice president of Government Relations. Diesman attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She holds an undergraduate degree in political science and sociology and a master’s degree in public administration.

Nakagawa is responsible for all Human Resources functions, including recruitment, organization development and training, benefits, compensation, employee relations, and morale activities. Prior to this, she was assistant vice president of Personnel. Nakagawa attended Oregon State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree. She followed her undergraduate degree with a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington.

HMSA is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
