Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) members can now receive discounts on a
variety of vision services with HMSA365, a discount program that launched in June
2009. HMSA365 offers discounts of up to 30 percent on weight management programs,
memberships to fitness centers and gyms, exercise classes, personal trainer services,
and more. Effective Jan. 15, discounts are now available with participating vision
businesses on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii.
A complete listing of HMSA’s vision discount network can be found on
hmsa.com/hmsa365. The listing includes ophthalmologists, optometrists and
opticians from around the state. Discounts may vary from business to business. For
example, one provider may offer discounts up to 40 percent off regular eye exams;
another provider may offer 20 percent off frames, lenses and contacts; and another
provider may offer 15 percent off all regular services.
HMSA365 is available to all HMSA members, including members of 65C Plus and The
HMSA Plan for QUEST Members. Any member with a current HMSA card is eligible to
participate in the program. In all, the program is available to nearly 700,000 members.
“Times are tough, money is tight, and just about everyone is looking for a
good deal,” said HMSA Vice President of Community Affairs Elisa Yadao. “Now,
HMSA members without vision benefits may take advantage of discounts when purchasing
eyeglass frames, lenses and contacts, or just having their regular eye exam. HMSA365
allows members to receive the vision services they need, while helping them keep
costs down.”
To receive discounts, members merely show their HMSA card to participating businesses
at the time of purchase and mention HMSA365. No registration or coupons are necessary.
HMSA365 is a discount program, not a health plan benefit. So no claims are processed
for the services. Members do not have to join HMSA365, and there is no cost for
the program. Member dues were not used to develop the program. A list of services
is posted at hmsa.com/hmsa365.
