Mission: Nutrition helps members understand their eating
habits and provides practical tools for creating personal eating plans.
Discover ways to manage portion sizes, select healthy snacks,
and practice simple strategies to achieve a balanced diet.
Each participant will be able to:
- Determine the recommended number of servings from each of the food groups based on the 2005 Food Guide Pyramid.
- Examine food labels and review nutrition information on food packages to identify healthy food choices.
- Estimate portion sizes using both physical and visual cues.
Each class encourages subtle lifestyle changes and addresses
challenges and barriers that may prevent us from making healthier
food choices. Members have the opportunity to learn through group
activities and to discuss how class information can be used in
their everyday lives.
