Akamai Advantage Visitor/Travel Program
Health care is the last thing you want to worry about when you are traveling.
Fortunately, HMSA Akamai Advantage provides you with peace of mind if you need
medical attention while traveling in certain U.S. Mainland states and Puerto Rico.
The Visitor/Travel Program includes Blue MA PPO network coverage of all Part A, Part B,
and supplemental benefits offered by your plan outside your service area.
Members who see Medicare Advantage PPO providers where the Visitor/Travel Program is
offered pay the same in-network cost that they would pay if they received covered
benefits from in-network providers at home.
The Blue MA PPO network is available in 30 states and one territory:
* Effective 1/1/13: New Jersey and Texas have been added to this list.
For some of the states listed, MA PPO networks are available only in
portions of the state.
Under Medicare Advantage rules, you must be disenrolled if you move or are absent from the
service area for more than six months. However, in areas where we offer the
Visitor/Travel Program, you may remain in the plan while out of our service area
for up to 12 months.
Enrollment materials identify the states where the Visitor/Travel Program is
available. In addition, members may:
