Studies show that children without health care coverage get
only half the health care services that insured children do. That
means they often miss regular immunizations, routine visits
and preventive care.
And it’s more than a family problem – it’s a community problem,
and it requires a community-based solution, where public and
private sectors work together to cover our keiki. One way HMSA
is helping is by offering The HMSA Children’s Plan.
This plan gives children the basic health care
benefits needed to help keep them in good health. This is an
individual plan that provides affordable medical care to children
aged 31 days through 18 years who do not have access to any ther
health care coverage.
The HMSA Children’s Plan covers certain preventive services,
immunizations, doctor visits, diagnostic tests, emergency care
and mental health benefits. This plan also provides limited
coverage for prescription drugs.
