HealthPass, a health promotion and prevention program, is a benefit of most HMSA
plans. The program provides an annual health risk assessment.
Your eligible employees can make an appointment at any of the six HealthPass Centers
statewide and complete the screening process on their own time. Or, we’ll
bring HealthPass’ dynamic health risk assessment program to you and your employees!
The HealthPass benefit includes:
- A personal assessment of an individual’s lifestyle, health habits and health
risks.
- A biometric screening, which includes:
- Blood pressure
- Resting heart rate
- Blood cholesterol (total and HDL)
- Blood glucose (fasting)
- Body composition (height, weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and body
fat analysis)
- A consultation with a health professional to review the screening results and develop
a personal plan to achieve wellness goals.
Employees may be eligible for additional preventive screening services based on
their age, gender, personal health history, risk factors, and plan benefits. The
following services must be arranged and scheduled through HealthPass:
- A health maintenance exam (physical exam)
- Osteoporosis screening (bone density test)
- Colorectal cancer screening (fecal occult blood test and sigmoidoscopy)
- Breast cancer screening (mammogram) (regular health plan benefits apply)
All of this is available as a plan benefit at no additional cost for HMSA members.
If requested, we’ll also provide the on-site screening service for non-HMSA
members for a fee of $80 plus tax per person.
Studies have shown that workplace wellness programs are surprisingly influential.
You may notice dramatic improvements in both the health and morale of your employees
if you:
- Designate a "champion" to lead workplace wellness efforts.
- Conduct screenings during business hours to ensure optimal participation.
- Provide incentives to participate.
A minimum of 25 participants per location is required to bring HealthPass to the
worksite. Companies with 50 or more HealthPass participants will receive an in-depth
aggregate report, which assesses the company’s most prevalent health conditions,
risk factors, and biometric indicators. We then work with employers to implement
targeted wellness programs aimed at addressing those specific health concerns.
