Preferred Provider Plan (PPP)
HMSA’s PPP is Hawaii’s most popular free choice plan with comprehensive
medical and drug benefits. The PPP provides your employees with the largest
network of physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers in the
state. Employees are free to select any provider they wish, however greater
benefits will be received when selecting an HMSA participating provider.
Employees are eligible for preventive care benefits and annual visits to
HealthPass, HMSA’s award-winning health risk assessment and health
counseling program. The PPP also offers peace of mind while traveling, with
access to over 500,000 Blue Cross and Blue Shield providers nationwide and
emergency care anywhere in the world.
CompMED
CompMED, short for Comprehensive Medical, is a lower-priced plan with
comprehensive health care benefits. Plan benefits include coverage for
physician office visits, inpatient and outpatient facility services, and
other provider services. Like the PPP, this plan provides access to the largest
network of health care providers in the state and annual visits to HealthPass.
It also offers access to over 500,000 Blue Cross and Blue Shield providers
nationwide while traveling on the Mainland and emergency care anywhere in the world.
Health Plan Hawaii (HPH)
HPH is a health maintenance organization (HMO) that offers quality coverage
in a cost-effective, managed care setting. Employees will have a personal care
physician of their choice through the largest network of HMO providers in the
state. HPH also provides access to urgent care services on the Mainland as well
as worldwide emergency care. In most cases, preventive care services are
provided at no cost, including immunizations, screenings, tests, and health
education classes.
