When does my HMSA coverage begin?

You may enroll in an HMSA plan that your employer or group offers when you are first eligible. Coverage will take effect if you meet all of the following: 

• Your initial dues are paid.
• We accept your enrollment form and give you written notice of your effective date.
• You are not in the hospital when the coverage takes effect.

The employee whose employer or group offers the coverage is called the subscriber. Subscribers may add eligible dependents to their coverage. Everyone covered by a subscriber's plan is an HMSA member.
