Hawaii Foodbank
Each year, HMSA employees participate in an annual food drive for the Hawaii Foodbank.
All proceeds are donated to the food bank just before Thanksgiving.
Employees traditionally engage in a competition, breaking into teams to see which
team can bring in the most nonperishable foods and cash donations. In 2011, HMSA
employees donated a total of 2,820 pounds of food and $18,865 to the Hawaii Foodbank
to help feed Hawaii’s hungry.
The donations are distributed among 270 member agencies. These include programs
to feed the hungry, homeless and abuse shelters, rehabilitation centers, soup kitchens,
and Neighbor Island food banks.
The Hawaii Foodbank serves more than 183,000 individuals each year. This includes
more than 55,000 children and 11,000 seniors.
HMSA and its employees are glad to help the Hawaii Foodbank serve Hawaii’s
hungry.
