Affiliated Companies
HMSA’s affiliated companies and subsidiaries were established in response
to customer and community demands. Their goals are to support HMSA’s efforts
to provide health care services to members and to supplement HMSA’s major
health plan activities. They offer products and services other than Blue Cross and
Blue Shield health insurance.
Integrated Services, Inc.
Integrated Services, Inc. (ISI) is an HMSA subsidiary that supports health care
providers with emerging technologies and resources to help them run their practices
more efficiently. ISI includes Hawaii Family Medical Centers, which provides physician
management services statewide and operates medical clinics in Waikoloa and Lihue.
HMSA Foundation
The
HMSA Foundation, an HMSA affiliated company, was established to stimulate
research of issues that confront Hawaii’s health care industry. The Foundation
is dedicated to improving health in Hawaii through grantmaking, strategic initiatives,
publications, and community-wide programs. Two of the Foundation’s major projects
are The Hawai‘i Uninsured Project
and the biannual publication of Health Trends in Hawai‘i,
which provides objective, reliable health care data in an easy-to-use format.
Benefit Services of Hawaii, Inc.
Benefit Services of Hawaii, Inc., an HMSA subsidiary, specializes in employee
benefits such as flexible spending, voluntary insurance, and group plan insurance.
BSHI is especially helpful to small- and mid-size companies who previously could
not offer those benefits because of the administrative burden.
