Provider Quality Programs

When you’re well-informed, you’re able to make the best health care decisions for you and your family. That’s why HMSA, in conjunction with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, is making more information available about provider participation in programs designed to make sure you receive quality care. We’re also sharing the ratings and reviews of other members about their experiences receiving care from HMSA participating doctors and facilities, and giving you the opportunity to rate and review your own experiences.

Blue Physician Recognition Program

HMSA is excited to bring the new Blue Physician Recognition Program to Hawaii. It will list provider participation in HMSA’s quality improvement programs, and other national or regional programs when you use the Blue National Doctor & Hospital Finder site and Federal Employee Plan (FEP) online directory.

Physician Quality Measurement Program

In conjunction with the Blue Physician Recognition program, which is for all providers, the Physician Quality Measurement program will provide even greater detail about primary care providers in particular. You will have access to their ratings on a number of different types of care they provide compared to national standards. The valuable quality information from these two programs about HMSA participating primary care providers and specialists will help you make informed health care decisions.

Patient Review of Physicians

Patient Review of Physicians is like Yelp!® for HMSA members. You can read ratings and reviews by HMSA members on their experiences with HMSA participating providers and facilities. And if you log in through My Account on hmsa.com and verify your visit with a provider, you will be able to rate and write a review of your experience. By providing the perspective of your fellow HMSA members, we hope to give you the most robust, up-to-date information available to help you choose the best care for your needs.
