2004 Achievements
The National Committee for Quality Assurance
(NCQA). NCQA awarded its highest rating to Health Plan
Hawaii, HMSA’s HMO plan, based on Health Plan Employer
Data and Information Set standardized measures.
Health Plan Hawaii was rated among NCQA’s “Top 5
Organizations” in 2004 for the Pacific region (Alaska,
California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington). NCQA is a
national independent nonprofit organization that measures
the level of patient care.
Consumer Assessment of Health Plans (CAHPS®) survey. HMSA
ranked high in categories measuring patient care and customer
service in NCQA’s 2004 CAHPS survey. HMSA ranked in the 90th
percentile of health plans nationally in categories that
measure the satisfaction of physicians, customer service and
claims processing.
March of Dimes. The March of Dimes Hawaii Chapter presented
HMSA with the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Award for Distinguished
Community Service. HMSA was selected for its ongoing commitment
to building healthy communities across the state.
2004 MS Hope Award. The Hawaii division of the Multiple Sclerosis
(MS) Society presented the MS Hope Award to HMSA for its outstanding
commitment to community service and ongoing efforts to build a safe, healthy Hawaii.
Catholic Charities Hawaii. Catholic Charities Hawaii (CCH) honored HMSA Senior
Vice President Cliff Cisco with its 2004 Hawaii Ulu Award, in
recognition of his extraordinary contributions as a board member,
trustee and volunteer for 13 years. The Ulu Award is CCH’s highest
award given each year to the volunteer leader
who exemplifies the organization’s mission and core values of
dignity, compassion, social justice, and commitment to excellence.
Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), Hawaii Chapter.
Island Scene magazine received awards for editorial and artistic
achievement in the SPJ Hawaii Chapter Excellence in Journalism Awards:
Pai Awards. Island Scene magazine won the following Pai awards
for editorial and artistic achievement from the Hawaii Publishers Association (HPA):
