2003 Achievements
Consumer Assessment of Health Plans (CAHPS®) survey.
HMSA’s Preferred Provider Plan and Health Plan Hawaii
received the highest score (four stars) in all categories
in a member survey from the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s
(NCQA) CAHPS survey. NCQA is a
national independent nonprofit organization that measures
the level of patient care. No other Hawaii health plan in
the survey received four stars in all categories. HMSA
performed within the top 10 percent of health plans in the country.
Best of Blue. HMSA’s Hospital Quality and Service Recognition
program was the recipient of a 2003 Best of Blue award
from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). The
national award recognizes innovations and best practices in
medical and pharmacy management.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s 2002 Brand Measure. The
BCBSA recognized
HMSA as one of its top 10 plans in accurately and promptly
handling member claims. HMSA received high scores for servicing
members and providers by assuring that their claims are paid
quickly and accurately.
2003 Outstanding Children & Youth Advocate. HMSA was named
Outstanding Corporate Advocate (large business category)
for demonstrating notable achievements performed on behalf
of Hawaii’s children and youths.
Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), Hawaii Chapter.
Island Scene magazine received awards for editorial and
artistic achievement from SPJ’s Hawaii chapter:
Ilima Awards. Island Scene magazine received Ilima awards for
editorial and artistic achievement from the International
Association of Business Communicators Hawaii chapter:
