Lanai Community Health Center
Lanai Community Health Center will bring together two of our most vulnerable
populations, our kupuna and keiki, by introducing "Pineapple Days Talk Story."
We will facilitate a monthly talk story gathering that will provide an opportunity
for an exchange of the rich history of Lanai -- the old plantation days to the
transition to the tourism industry -- from the kupuna to keiki. We will provide
activities for kupuna and keiki to work together to explore these topics and
learn from each other. The aim of this program is to bring our community together
and to strengthen inter-generational interaction, cohesiveness, and unity. The program
is intended to foster in keiki and other attendees a deeper connection to the
island and to provide a profound understanding of the unique and diverse history
of the island. This program will also highlight the uniqueness of our island in
today’s changing world.
